The Best Stylish and Comfortable Walking Shoes for Travel

Packing for a trip is exciting, but shoes? Shoes can be a real headache. Finding that perfect pair (or two) that feels amazing all day without clashing with your outfits can be tough. Especially since exploring a new city often means serious mileage on your feet. That’s why we created this guide! We’ve rounded up the best travel shoes of 2026 (as far as we’re concerned) to keep you conquering those 30,000-step days in style and comfort.

1. Asics Gel-1130

The Asics Gel-1130 is a travel essential! This shoe’s classic silhouette pairs flawlessly with anything, from denim to dresses, and works year-round. But don’t be fooled by its good looks – the Gel-1130 packs Asics’ renowned Gel cushioning for all-day comfort, making it a perfect pick for pounding the pavement in new cities.

2. New Balance 530

Wanting to add a more vintage style to your travel shoe collection? Look no further than the New Balance 530. These sneakers combine classic style with modern, breathable materials for a timeless design that complements almost any outfit. Plus, innovative materials keep your feet comfy all day, even on super hot days with lots of walking.

3. New Balance 9060

Unlike the 530s, the New Balance 9060 goes all-in on support. Their cutting-edge ABZORB midsole absorbs shockwaves like a champ, keeping your feet happy on long walks. This makes them perfect for explorers who value both comfort and support. Plus, the chunky sneaker style goes perfectly with wide-leg denim or trousers, adding a little versatility to your travel wardrobe. These went with pretty much every outfit on our most recent trip to Japan, and were the perfect travel shoes!

4. Asics Gel-NYC

The Asics Gel-NYC are our travel MVP (most valuable pair) for shorter trips. Why? They tick all the boxes. Asics’ signature Gel technology keeps your feet comfy on long sightseeing tours, and the excellent arch support lets you conquer cobblestones and uneven terrain in style. Plus, the timeless silhouette of this Asics shoe elevates any outfit, so you only need to pack one other pair!

5. Nike Vomero 5

A newer pair to our travel shoe rotation are the Nike Vomero 5. This sneaker boasts a Zoom cushioning system that feels like walking on clouds, perfect for pampering your feet after long days of adventure. They’re surprisingly lightweight too, so your feet won’t feel weighed down after hours of exploring bustling markets, trails, or charming cafes.

6. Nike V2K Run

Packing light for hotter climates? The Nike V2K Run is your new best friend. This breathable and lightweight shoe lets your feet breathe easy while navigating crowded streets or exploring new neighborhoods. Don’t be fooled by its weight – the V2K Run offers sneaky support to keep your feet happy and comfy, making it a perfect choice for warm-weather travel. They definitely give off similar vibes to the 530s, but if you prefer Nike over New Balance, this is a great option.

7. Hoka Bondi 8

Craving cloud-like comfort on long travel days? The Hoka Bondi 8 is your dream shoe, and personally one of our favorite walking shoes in general. Its signature pillowy midsole pampers your feet, keeping them fresh no matter the type of travel you’re doing. While the super thick sole might not be for everyone, and the look leans more athletic, comfort reigns supreme here. If that’s your priority, the Bondi 8 won’t disappoint! Just something to consider when matching them to your outfits.

8. Hoka Clifton 9

The Hoka Clifton 9 is the perfect middle ground for those who love the Bondi 8’s comfort but want a lighter option. Imagine a featherweight shoe with responsive cushioning – that’s the Clifton 9! It’s ideal for travelers seeking a lightweight shoe with enough support to conquer new places. Plus, the Clifton 9’s silhouette is a bit more minimal than the Bondi 8’s, making it more versatile for various outfits (in our humble opinion!).

9. Suicoke CEL VPO

As the only non-sneaker on this list, the Suicoke CEL VPO’s are our favorite, and most versatile, travel shoe to pack for any trip. We practically wore them out (both black and white!) on our Vietnam trip in 2023. These sandals tackled everything from steamy humidity to monsoon downpours without breaking a sweat (or a strap!). They are covered with a Vibram sole for top-notch traction, letting you conquer city streets, dirt paths, and puddle-filled walkways in absolute comfort. Not to mention they are the cutest chunky platform sandal, and quite literally go with any outfit you put on.

With this list travel shoes list, you can pack lighter, explore further, and rack up those 30,000 steps in comfort and style. Happy travels!
