Location: 9/10
The Alohilani is located right off of Kalakua Avenue, which makes it easily accessible and near lots of restaurants and shopping. When you stay here, you’ll be in walking distance of an ABC store, restaurant, and beach all within a one block radius, While the resort doesn’t have direct beach access, all you have to do is cross the street and you’re immediately on the sands on Waikiki Beach. Being on a main road does also mean there’s a lot more traffic and people to get through before entering the lobby of the hotel, which is why we gave it a 9 out of 10.
Room : 9/10

You won’t be disappointed in any of the rooms you stay in at the Alohilani. During this particular stay, we decided to splurge on the Premier Oceanfront Room, which was well worth the price. The room had an amazing unobstructed view of the ocean, providing us the pleasure of waking up and ending the day with the sound of the waves. The room also included a private lanai that gave us the ability to watch the sunset from our room.
The room was a good size at about 330 sq, feet, and we were able to comfortably have 4 people stay in it without any issues. That said, the amenities and equipment in the room include:
- 55” TV
- Multifunctional Bidet
- Bath robes and slippers
- Compact refrigerator
- Private lanai
- Andis Hair Dryer
- Iron and Ironing Board
- In-room safe
Bed and Quality of Sleep : 10/10
When we’re on vacation, getting a good night’s sleep is what keeps us energized to explore the next day. Because of this, the bed, pillows, sheets, and everything else are super important when it comes to getting a good quality of sleep. The bed was firm and the pillows were as fluffy as clouds. It’s some of the best sleep we’ve ever gotten on vacation, and we’ve traveled a lot!
Bathroom: 9/10
The bathrooms at the Alohilani are a dream. They feature a rainfall shower, electric bidet, and amazing lighting that makes applying makeup or skincare a breeze. They also include the usual bathroom amenities like shampoo, body wash, conditioner, lotion, a hair dryer, etc.
Service: 8/10
The staff at the Alohilani are friendly and super attentive! The hotel is a lot busier than some that we’ve stayed at on the island, so it’s natural that there was more of a wait when it came to needs being filled. That said, the service was wonderful and we have nothing but good things to say about the staff.
Food: 9/10

This category is rated higher on our scale because, like a true resort, there are various dining options for you to choose from. There are a wide variety of eateriest to choose from including: La Bettola, Swell Pool Bar, Morimoto Asia, Momosan Ramen, and more. There’s even a coffee shop onsite called Kai Coffee, where you can purchase their macadamia nut syrup to take a little piece of your trip home with you.
Hotel Amenities: 7/10
The Alohilani has the usual amenities you would expect from a hotel including:
- Pool and sun deck
- Spa
- Fitness Studio
- Workspace
- Concierge
- Restaurants
Nothing too out of the ordinary or wow-ing.
Overall Rating: 8.7/10
Overall, the Alohilani is a great place to stay if you’re looking for more of a resort type feel in the middle of the busy city of Waikiki. The hotel is in a great (though busy) location, it’s right across the street from the beach, the rooms are luxurious, and the variety of food options will keep you occupied for a week.
