You know the drill: it’s 5:15pm, your group chat is already debating where to go, and someone always has a Metra to catch! West Loop happy hours are some of the best in the city, but a lot of them are shorter than you’d think, so we’re rounding up our favorites (and telling you exactly how much time you’ve got before the prices go back to normal).

1. Oakville
Mon-Fri, 4-6pm, in the bar area
This is a solid two-hour window, so it’s a good pick if your group can’t all get out the door at the same time. The Korean BBQ chicken wings and the crispy chicken sliders are the move, and the tempura veggie fries come with a gochujang aioli that’s worth ordering on its own. Wines by the glass are all $6 (ask about the seasonal margarita too, it’s not always on the printed menu)!
Pro tip: Oakville and Yokocho are right next door to each other, so this is a perfect spot to start a happy hour hop.

2. Formento’s
Every day, 4:30-6pm, at the bar or on the patio (dine-in only)
Oysters are the reason to come here for happy hour: $2 chilled or $3 grilled, with a 6-oyster minimum. Cocktails, wine, and beer are all one flat price across the board, which makes ordering for a group easy. The little gem salad and fried olives are great if you want something to share while you’re deciding what else to get.

3. BLVD Steakhouse
Mon-Fri, 4:30-6:30pm, at the bar
Two hours is generous for a steakhouse happy hour, and the burger and beer combo (with a shot of Woodford Reserve bourbon) is a genuinely good deal for $25! Oysters are $2 each, and if you’re going with a bigger group, the half-off martinis and select wine bottles make it easy to keep the tab reasonable. We love a good espresso martini, and this spot has one of our faves.

4. Yokocho
Tues-Fri, 5-7pm
This one’s worth planning around since it skips Mondays! $5 handrolls (spicy tuna, blue crab, and truffle hamachi are the standouts) and $7 drinks across the board make it one of the better values on this list. We love this spot, but fair warning, it gets busy during peak happy hour, so don’t be surprised if there’s a bit of a wait for a table.
Since it’s right next door to Oakville, this is one of our favorite happy hour combos in the neighborhood: start with wings and margaritas, then hop over for handrolls!

5. Trivoli Tavern
Mon-Fri, 4-5pm
The shortest window on this list, so this is the one to have on your radar if you’re trying to duck out early! $6.99 sliders (cheeseburger, pulled pork, hot fried chicken, meatball, take your pick) and $6 draft beer make it an easy, no-fuss stop. If you can’t make the happy hour window, come back on a Wednesday: bottles of wine are half off all night!

6. Costera Cocina Tulum
Weekdays, 4-6pm
This was the surprise of the bunch for us! We went in expecting a solid happy hour and left impressed by the food. Tacos (asada, pollo, vegan chorizo, or a rotating chef’s seasonal option) are $10 for an order of two, guac is $6, and the margaritas and espresso martinis are $9. The new Lychee Paloma and Rojo Sangria are worth trying too! There’s also a patio, so it’s a nice option if you want to actually sit outside after work instead of huddling at a bar.

7. Pizza Lobo
No official happy hour menu here, but hear us out! Pizza Lobo runs $1 wings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, plus food and drink specials every single day that make it one of the better-priced bars in West Loop, happy hour or not. It’s our current go-to, and the patio is one of our favorites in the neighborhood! If you’re not tied to a strict happy hour clock, this is the spot to know about.
